Further to my earlier comment, I may add here that Mohd. Rafi has sung this
song in such an emotional way and Neerajji's wordings and SJ's music added
more precious Gems in making this song as immortal one. This one is as
good as Rafi's another emotional song on Babul ki Duae leti ja.. (
both these songs are on daughter's wedding).

शंकर-जयकिशन की जोडी ने इस फ़िल्म मे यह साबित किया था कि वे नौजवानों को एवं
उनकी समस्या को लेकर बनायी गयी फ़िल्मों में भी समय के साथ ताल से ताल मिलाता
हुआ संगीत देने के लिये एकदम तैयार थे.

The lyrics by Neeraj are very emotional, the music by SJ is excellent, and
the rendition by Mohd. Rafi is beyond any description. Subhash Ghai, who
later became a legendary film maker, acted very well on screen. A gem of a
song! Umang was a nice movie made on a contemporary subject, but didn’t do
well at the box office. It’s songs, however, were quite popular.
