hare huye sipahi par gora afasar baras pada
aur kaha samane se nahi toh pith me chhuri maaro
jit ki khushi me soye huye insan par
firangi sipahio ne hamla kar diya

firangio ne pichhe se unko aise pakda
bade dhokhe se aakar sher ko janjiro me jakda
ghana woh ped jo deta tha sare ganv ko chhaya
usi pe phansi dene ko dharmaraj ko latakaya
shahid toh mar ke bhi jite rehte hain
isiliye toh amar unako log kehte hain
kate huye iss ped ko dekho gadi hai jo talvar
abb tak isme baki hai aajadi ki jhankar

Upon this earth, from time to time, such spirits take their hold,
Whose names in memory forever shine, a story to be told.

Recall the year, eighteen fifty-seven, a time of strife, a memory given,
Recall the tales of the cruel British, their shadows driven, a scene to be riven.
The Firangi, with their comings and goings, did strike, a wicked decree,
Could our blood flow like water, flowing free?
Thinking us cowards, their forces did break, the ground did quake,
Maidens and brides, their honor they take.

A brave Dharmaraj, with sword in hand, a hero from this sacred land,
The son of Bharat Mata, he came to stand, a hero so grand.
He leaped into battle, wielding the sword of right,
The enemy's wall crumbled, fading from sight.
Did the foreigners flee with tails between their legs?
No, they didn't flee, they were defeated, like broken pegs.
Upon the defeated soldier, the white officer did then pour,
"If not from the front, then stab him from behind, to settle the score."
On men asleep with victory's cheer,
The Firangi soldiers launched their cruel spear.

The Firangi captured them from the rear,
By deceit, they snared the lion in fear.
That dense tree that sheltered the whole village,
Upon that tree, Dharmaraj was put on the pillage.
A martyr, though dead, continues to live,
That is why they are called immortal, they give.
Look at the fallen tree, the sword that is there,
Even now, the echoes of freedom fill the air.
