Blind with love, he ran, a pyre,
To his own mother, torn apart.
He struck, a dagger's cruel embrace,
Piercing her heart, a crimson trace.
Wounded, he fled, his spirit low,
Stumbled, fell upon the ground below.
Then, from her heart, a gentle plea,
"Did you hurt yourself, my child, tell me?"

A child, a battle, a burning flame.
To seek justice, they did appear,
Before the judge, consumed by fear.
One cried, "My child, he's mine to keep,"
The other, "Mine, while I still weep."
The judge, bewildered, weighed the plea,
Whose child is this? Who shall decree?
He ordered execution's cruel hand,
To sever the child from the land.
Then the true mother, her voice so clear,
"Wait, do not do this, hold back the tear,
I forsake my claim, I shall depart,
But let him live, keep him my heart."
