"Neither Lakshmana nor Hanuman can evade the fight,"
With a blow, they will laugh and show the monkey's might.
"If you seek your safety, you should retreat from here,"
Then Lakshmana spoke, "First, your words we will hear."
"Do you forget Surpanakha's nose?" Ravana, burning with ire,
He struck the first blow, as the blades began to aspire.
The swords clashed and met, the battle now begun,
Each thrust and parry, beneath the fading sun.
