Let the raw hues fade, surrender,
For the season is meant to pass.
How long could she wait, suspended,
While the bridge, a form in the haze, did amass.

One could see it, but its edges unseen,
Did they curve back, joined on the same shore?
Or perhaps, this bridge was a phantom, between,
And never did lead to a door.

Dusk was descending, no footfall in sight,
As the river below, with a murmuring plea,
Offered, "Come, find solace in my light,
I'll wash away all your infamy."

This earthen vessel, so long has it played,
The colors of this toy, they begin to depart.

Let the raw hues fade, unmade,
The river, with its vast heart, will start
To cleanse all, to wash away the stain,
This mound of clay, it must return.
So little earth, the river's reign,
Let the river flow, let the colors burn.
