I totally agree with you. Surendranathji was indeed a complete artist who
sang as well as acted onscreen. His last movie was perhaps Geet Gaya
Pattharon Ne. He brought a certain kind of maturity in his romantic songs
as opposed to passion of New Theatres songs. And it worked very well in
duets with female artistes bringing a restless attitude to the song. Listen
to Tumhi Ne Mujhko Prem Sikhaya. of course the classic Awaz De Kahan Hai
illustrates this perfectly.
