Hemant-Lata-Suchitra Sen-- what a divine combination this song represents. The genius of the bansuri player,said to be the reputed Panna Lal Ghosh( though I am not certain), combined with the otherwise minimal instrumental play, assists Lataji's plaintive singing and makes it doubly moving in the expression of SS's agony over the loss of her beloved. Thanks,Yuan.

This is ethereal music from the baton of Hemant Mukherji whose tunes just
bled the heart and intoxicated the spirits. Lyrics to the best of my
knowledge by Prem Dhawan, songstress is none other than the queen empress
of melody Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar and of course had the queen empress
of histrionics too to sing it on the silver screen
