Lyrics of Chhoti Si Kahani Se -
sari vaadi bhar gayi
sari vaadi bhar gayi
na jane kyu, dil bhar gaya
na jane kyu, aankh bhar gayi

shakho pe patte the, patto pe bunde thi
bundo me pani tha, pani me aansu the
shakho pe patte the, patto pe bunde thi
bundo me pani tha, pani me aansu the
sari vaadi bhar gayi
na jane kyu, dil bhar gaya
na jane kyu, aankh bhar gayi

dil me gile bhi the, pehle mile bhi the
milake paraye the, do humsaye the
dil me gile bhi the, pehle mile bhi the
milake paraye the, do humsaye the
sari vaadi bhar gayi
na jane kyu, dil bhar gaya
na jane kyu, aankh bhar gayi

rukti hai thamti hai, kabhi barasti hai
baadal pe paanv rakh ke, baarish machalti hai
rukti hai thamti hai, kabhi barasti hai
baadal pe paanv rakh ke, baarish machalti hai
sari vaadi bhar gayi
na jane kyu, dil bhar gaya
na jane kyu, aankh bhar gayi
lyrics of song Chhoti Si Kahani Se
Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Chhoti Si Kahani Se -
From a tale whispered, by rain's weeping veil,
the valley swelled, a watery trail.
From a tale whispered, by rain's weeping veil,
the valley swelled, a watery trail.
Why, oh why, did my heart then break?
Why, oh why, did my eyes then ache?

On branches, leaves, on leaves, the dew,
in the dew, the water, in water, the rue.
On branches, leaves, on leaves, the dew,
in the dew, the water, in water, the rue.
From a tale whispered, by rain's weeping veil,
the valley swelled, a watery trail.
Why, oh why, did my heart then break?
Why, oh why, did my eyes then ache?

In hearts, the grievances, meetings of yore,
meeting, strangers, two souls evermore.
In hearts, the grievances, meetings of yore,
meeting, strangers, two souls evermore.
From a tale whispered, by rain's weeping veil,
the valley swelled, a watery trail.
Why, oh why, did my heart then break?
Why, oh why, did my eyes then ache?

It pauses, it stills, then it pours with might,
on cloud-held feet, the rain takes flight.
It pauses, it stills, then it pours with might,
on cloud-held feet, the rain takes flight.
From a tale whispered, by rain's weeping veil,
the valley swelled, a watery trail.
Why, oh why, did my heart then break?
Why, oh why, did my eyes then ache?

Hey Absus4!!! Dude I guess it is yours' misunderstanding and misconception that "Choti Si Kahani" is adapted from "Popcorn" by Hot Butter. Because I have heard that too and found no similarity. Check yours' statement before commenting on legend like R.D.Burman on public forum.

chhotee see kahaanee se, baarishon ke paanee se
saaree waadee bhar gayee
naa jaane kyon, dil bhar gayaa
naa jaane kyon, aaankh bhar gayee

shaakhon pe patte the, patton pe boonde thee
boondo men paanee thaa, paanee men aansoo the

dil men gile bhee the, pahale mile bhee the
milake paraaye the, do hamasaaye the

rukatee hai thamatee hai kabhee barasatee hai
baadal pe paaanw rakh ke baarish machalatee hai

Watching this song late night - while it rained outside heavily - brought me back my college days memories. An amazingly beautiful song and equally wonderful film.
Truly "na jaane kyon dil bhar gaya . naa jaane kyon aankh bhar gayee".

Very nice one since this is the full version of the song. The original song clip from the movie is not the full version. Appreciable but the sound quality is very poor here.

Lovely adaptation of the famous 1972 pop hit "Popcorn" by Hot Butter. RDB was very good in adapting western pop hits and making them sound very "Indian". Great !
