A tiny mouse, three years of age,
Dwelled within the forest's keep.
One day he ventured from his hole,
An elephant, from slumber deep.

The mouse, he knew not of the beast,
Nor its name, so grand and tall.
He saw the elephant and thought,
A kindred spirit, answering his call.

"Brother, how old are you, my friend?"
The mouse inquired with gentle grace.
The elephant raised his mighty trunk,
"I am an elephant, three years of space."

"But who are you?" The mouse did blush,
Ashamed, and lost in thought's embrace.
"I, too, am an elephant, and speak the truth,
Yet, since youth, sickness haunts my face."

A fearsome lion, in his cave,
He sat and held his regal sway.
A mischievous rabbit, hopped and said,
A forest king arrives today!

"He claims you must, without delay,
Go to the circus, play your part."
The lion roared, consumed by rage,
"Show me, where is this boasting heart?"

The rabbit led, with cunning pace,
To a well, where shadows danced.
"Behold," he said, "the true king now,
Arrived and ready for his chance!"

The lion peered, his reflection met,
A double, mirroring his face.
Convinced, he leaped, without a thought,
Into the well, losing his place.

The forest folk, rejoiced and cheered,
At the rabbit's clever, playful feat.
They danced and sang, with joyful hearts,
A victory, bittersweet.
