ishq khuddar ko lekin ye gawaaraa hi nahi

yaad rakha hai to bhul bhi saktaa hu tujhe
dil pay mera bhi haq hai sirf tera hi nahi
dost ko dost samajhna to hai ik baat shameem
humne dushman ko dushman kabhi samajha hi nahi

By God, I seek nothing more, my heart at rest,
Yet why this ache, this wandering, un-possessed?
Tears well from eyes that see a surface grim,
The soul's true plight, its depths you haven't glimpsed.

Do they bestow grace, or do they wound and bleed?
From that perspective, we have never freed
Our sight to see. Though weeping brings relief,
Love, proud and fierce, permits no such creed.

I can forget, the memory to erase,
My heart, too, claims a space, a private place,
