AWESOME song! "Roti" had some of THE BEST songs EVER composed by Laxmikant - Pyarelal, the wondrous duo and THE most notorious musical directors in all of Hindi Cinema. Not only is the song an enormous gem, but so is the entire concept of the video.

Rajesh's character - Mangal Singh - plays an ordinary man with a heart of gold who has been sentenced to prison (and to be hanged) for stealing food. Throughout the entire film, he performs various community services and helps people of the poor village in attaining a good life just to contradict others' negative opinions about him. Great film! A Manmohan Desai classic.

Loooooooooooooooove Mumtaz as Bijili - a village girl. Her outfit is to-die-for in this clip. My favorite of hers!

i watched this movies 20/25 years back... i was then a kid and all the songs of this movie were very popular.
Momohan Desai's movies contains songs like this in almost all his movies... He treats the common road people in almost all his films...like the scenes of Amar Akbar Anthony...the role of Amitabh on the streets, like in Naseeb same bachchan and Rishi kapoor, like in Parvarish with Vinoth Khana and Amitabh.

In ALMOST AL FILMS OF M.dESAI THERE ARE SARCASTIC SONGS CRITICISING THE STATE AND PEOPLE WHO UNDERESTIMATE THE COMMON STREET PEOPLE... IN ALMOST ALL HIS FILMS THE HERO IS THE MAN OF THE STREET.

One of the best films made by Manmohan Desai without Legendry Amitabh. Rajesh Khanna (Kakaji) superb as ever before, Mumtaz paired great with Genuine Superstar Kakaji. A must watched movie.
