@nzmarycontrary This is a 40 year old movie, so do not worry about why kids
were in clubs at that time. Just enjoy the video. Do not get all too
concerned about the well being of children in 3rd world India. We know how
much "real" concerns liberals in the West really have...

Sorry for butting in. But I did love the controversy that your comment created. Only goes on to show how ideas of what is correct have changed since 1970. At that time this song was suppposed to be a major comment on the controversies surrounding the teachings of Gandhi. 1969 was the Mahatma's centenary. No one even noticed the kids in the visuals! It was the debate in the song that attracted attention.

it is only the kids that were dressed as monkeys or animals in the visual.
Otherwise, the voice recording was that of not monkeys but 'chip munks' a
recording technique popular in the west. In that songs were recorded in the
normal voice at normal speed, then re-recorded at very slow speed. and then
replayed at higher than normal speed (dunno how exactly it was done), with
ultimately the voices sounding like those of chip munks (as it sounds
ultimately in this song).

the song technique was similar to the Beatles song (rather an entire album
probably) especially the famous song 'From me to you' which was recorded as
a cover version with chipmunk voices and that too became famous. This song
and she's very very pretty song are similar in execution.
