न तो मैं किसी का रक़ीब हूँ
जो बिगड़ गया वो नसीब हूँ
जो उजड़ गया वो दयार हूँ
न किसी की आँख का नूर हूँ
न किसी के दिल का क़रार हूँ
जो किसी के काम न आ सके
मैं वो एक मुश्ते ग़ुबार हूँ ..
बहादुर शाह ज़फ़र की एक दर्द भरी नज़्म जिसमे उनकी तड़पती रूह का एहसास होता है।
रफ़ी साहिब की आवाज़ की क़शिश मानो निराशा के घने बादलों से बरसती आंसुओं की
बूंदों से रूह को भिगोती है। एस. एन. त्रिपाठी साहिब ने इस नज़्म को कमाल की
बंदिश में ढाला है और एक यादगार बना दिया है। 1961 में रिलीज़ हुई फ़िल्म लाल
क़िला की इस नज़्म को हमलोग बचपन में बड़े ध्यान से सुना करते थे और दिल में
जज़्बात का एक तूफ़ान सा उमड़ता था। कहते हैं रंगून की जेल में ज़फर साहिब ने
लिखने के लिए काग़ज़-कलम माँगा जो उन्हें नहीं दिया गया। फ़िर उन्होंने जली हुई
लकड़ियों से कमरे की दीवारों पर अपनी नज़्में लिखीं। वाक़ई दर्द की अनोखी दास्तान
है ये भी।

kaam na aa sake, main wo ek musht-i-gubaar hoon ". (Neither the light of
anyone's eye, nor the solace of anyone's heart; I am but a useless handful
of dust.)
This haunting ghazal is widely attributed to Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last
Mughal Emperor, but it was actually written by Muztar Khairabadi. See "The
