my special thanks for including the " saakhi" before the song, which is
rarely heard with the song. in my college days i always sang this song with
the saakhi. oh my god, what pathos and longing for the departed lover.!

In some other posts I have read that this child star, Akashdeep, is son of V. Shantaram i.e brother of Rajshri, and later on he settled in USA.

It is a unique song. I think this was Dharmendra's first film. Khayyam
did'nt use rafi' s voice much. but whereever rafi was there it turned out

many more, but I would add one that really pulls my heart strings... Lata's
"Har aas ashk baar hein..", from Kinare' Kinare'. Only Lata could sing that
song with emotions laid bare. And for sheer tenderness in love, the one
that you mentioned... "Phir na kije' meri gustakh nigahon ka gila...", from

What a song! I had seen this movie all those years ago. Sadly, I was at an
age where I preferred Shammi Kapoor who had just embarked on his caveman
tactics to woo his girl and his movies were filled with feet tapping songs.
'Shola aur Shabnam' was a dull and serious movie and hadn't made an
impression on me and my friends. Today I kick myself for not enjoying this
movie as it vanished never to reappear even as a morning show. Dharmendra
was so young and handsome.Whatever happened to Tarla Mehta
