Because the story line is just so out there. And the acting isn't there as
well. Not the main stars, it's all the smaller parts. Never are their
acting up to the level of the main actors. It kind of takes you away from
the film. As growing up watching these movies it was cool. But once you
watch some Hollywood movies where every person in the movie has on par
acting, you realize the difference. Only old school hindi movies were like
that.

I agree with you, but not entirely. Regarding the lack of depth in acting,
I think it is quite the opposite. The storyline should dictate the essence
of the movie, and it is the duty of main actors to carry this and not get
overly passionate and self expressive. I tend to notice about modern
Bollywood movies that they put way too much on looks, emphasizing on a
making a certain behaviour or trait a special one, which is quite backward
and cheesy. This is typically frowned upon by Hollywood.

Lol... this is a pretty ignorant comment. If you knew anything about
sanskrit traditions or plays or anything like that youd understand why
Hindi film actors act like this, it is not bad acting it is a certain style
that has been passed down and has to do with Darshana. If you dont like the
style thats different but it is not bad acting.

Ignorant? All I did was answer mickylou2000's comment. I don't care where
it comes from. He asked why American's and I assume other countries don't
appreciate these movies and my answer is because the story is just too out
there. Doesn't seem like it could ever happen. Sanskrit traditions has
nothing to do with what I said about older Hindi movies having better
acting. Did the tradition all of a sudden hit once the golden age left?
